Wine Front Campbell Mattinson Review

Wanted Man has fast become one of the top few Heathcote producers.

Pure, ripe, silken and sweet-fruited.A beautifully presented wine. It tastes of eucalypt, toast, blackberry and iodine, and when its tannins kick in they come juicy and flavoursome and fine. Easy to drink, easy to like, easy to be impressed by.

Wanted Man wines from Heathcote:

An event held at Melbourne's leading Spanish restaurant, MoVida, saw current and pre-release wines receive great accolades from the assembled media and trade guests, including special guests, Rick Kinzbrunner (Giaconda) and Roy Moorfield (Cathay Pacific).

Our initial release features the 2006 Marsanne Viognier and 2006 Shiraz, with the premium WM Shiraz, and premium Shiraz blends due for release in late 2008.

Reviewing the wines at the launch, Rick Kinzbrunner noted that the Wanted Man wines show great fruit/oak balance and are fine examples of European styles with a distinct Heathcote accent. Rick has known Andrew Clarke since their early working days together at Brown Brothers, almost 28 years ago.

He said that it had been interesting to watch Andrew’s winemaking 'journey' and that his wines show great restraint and huge potential. He wished Wanted Man every success.

The 2006 Marsanne Viognier shows a complex yet delicate nose with scents of lemon and orange blossom. Lingering flavours of mineral, citrus and apricot are well supported by a full middle palate and a fresh, clean and zingy acid finish.

The 2006 Shiraz has a nose of bramble, plum and lush blueberries. Hints of spicy fruitcake and candied fruits lead to a rich palate of plums and stewed fruits, underpinned by a velvety texture and mouth-feel.

The distinctive black-and-white Australian bushranger labels are the work of leading Melbourne cartoonist Mark Knight.

Wanted Man wines are currently exported to the UK and Europe and scheduled for export to the USA. The 2006 Marsanne Viognier and 2006 Shiraz are available in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney from selected fine restaurants and independent fine wine merchants, and have a RRP of $30.
